Product Description

The MethaneHound Analyzer is designed to meet the stringent requirements of industries such as petrochemical, gas processing, biogas, landfills, and gas pipelines, where accuracy, reliability, and low maintenance are paramount for ensuring consistent quality and process control. These industries have long sought a dependable, cost-effective solution for continuous methane detection, and KECO delivers on this need with a proven, microprocessor-based technology.

Built to deliver accurate, real-time analysis, the MethaneHound employs the non-dispersive infrared (NDIR) principle of operation, a widely recognized method for precise methane measurement. This advanced sensor technology allows the analyzer to detect even trace amounts of methane, making it ideal for applications requiring continuous monitoring in critical and non-critical environments.

The system includes a precision flowmeter that regulates the sample flow to approximately 1.5 SCFH, ensuring that the methane sample is analyzed at an optimal flow rate. Once the sample is introduced to the infrared detection element, it interacts with the specific detection element, which generates a proportional output based on the concentration of methane in the sample. This signal is then digitized and analyzed by the integrated microprocessor-based HMI (Human-Machine Interface) system.

The analyzer provides a 4-20 mA output, relay alarms, and communication capabilities via RS-485 and TCP/IP Ethernet, enabling seamless integration into existing systems. This allows for remote monitoring and control, as well as the ability to set up diagnostic alerts or concentration alarms through the Modbus protocol. The color touchscreen LCD is designed for ease of use and provides users with live data, historical readings, alarm conditions, real-time charts, and even step-by-step calibration procedure prompts. The interface also includes failure indicators, offering both local and remote diagnostic capabilities to ensure the system’s uptime and reliability.

The MethaneHound has been engineered with durability in mind. Its outdoor weatherproof packaging (UL-listed, CSA-rated, and IP66 compliant) ensures the system can withstand harsh environmental conditions, making it perfect for outdoor or remote installations. Using high-quality, non-reactive materials throughout the fabrication process ensures compatibility with a wide range of process streams, reducing the risk of contamination or interference with the measurement.

Its user-friendly interface, low maintenance design, and comprehensive monitoring capabilities make it an ideal solution for companies seeking reliable methane analysis for quality assurance and process control.
